Modified Cycle Insurance – The Main Insurance Issues

It can be frustrating ringing around for an insurance quotation on a modified cycle, even more so if the company you call has no understanding of modified cycles and then after half an hour tells you that they cannot insure your cycle. The issue that many insurance companies have is that any modifications to a cycle make it fall outside of their 'standard' pre-assessed rating structure and to take the modifications into consideration would move the insurance risk outside of the policy guidelines, therefore they simply will not insure modified cycles.

Some modifcation can effect the cycles performance and safety, so adding these types of modifications can exclude some insurance companies from being able to cover the risk, they may prefer to avoid higher performance cycles for the additional risks involved.
