Meet Chris, who devotes his time to inspire disabled drivers to race!
Chris Carter is a man on a mission. He’s dedicating his time to his love of Motorsport and helping others. He wants to inspire those with disabilities to pursue their dreams. If you’ve got a passion for something, nothing should be allowed to get in your way, right? Chris has overcome many hurdles in his own life yet he’s still so determined to succeed whilst also encouraging others. Chris’ love of fast cars and Motorsport has never faded. If anything, his desire to race has become stronger as the years have gone by.
I am a disabled racing driver who has spent the last few years working tirelessly to break into Motorsport. In the last 12 months, I’ve passed the MSA EXTENDED ARDS TEST. I’ve also sourced my own race car (which has adaptations to suit my disability / requirements) and have begun to attract partner organisations and sponsors. Now, I am paving the way for my race career and I’m more excited than ever before!
Aside from pursing my dream, I am also laying the foundations for a disabled racing academy. I hope that this will provide the encouragement and support needed to help others with disabilities pursue their dream of racing.
My Facebook page has a growing number of followers. My posts are regularly reaching hundreds of potential partners, meaning I am starting to become recognised as a ‘driver to follow’. This is something that I am so proud of.
I will soon be racing at Castle Combe and am picking up regular media coverage for both myself and my partners. The BBC Midlands have featured me, as have a couple of local newspapers. This has spurred me on further to spread my message! I’ve also had substantial coverage on social media. A career in Motorsport is something I’ve dreamed of for a very long time. Now, finally, I hope the future continues to fulfil this dream!
Ultimately, I want to help people. I want people to pursue their dreams and realise that everything is within reach if you put your mind to it. It’s also a great opportunity for other parties, not just those who want to race. Motorsport offers a number of opportunities to businesses and sponsors – you only need to look at your local club race to see how it’s working for so many brands!
Chris even got a ‘shout out’ from none other than Damon Hill, the legendary 1996 Formula One World Champion, on Twitter. See the tweet for yourself by clicking here.
